Privacy Policy
Last updated: 9 June 2026
This policy explains what personal information Derby Gutters collects, why we collect it, how we use it, and the rights you have over it. We keep it short and plain. If anything is unclear, just ask.
1. Who we are
Derby Gutters is a gutter cleaning business covering Derby and the surrounding area. It is a partnership run by Stephen James Fudge and Sheridan Marie Fudge. For the purposes of UK data protection law, the partners are the joint "data controllers" for the information described in this policy.
You can contact us about your privacy or this policy at:
- Email: info@derbyguttercleaning.co.uk
- Phone: 01332 314316
- Post: Derby Gutters, 79 Friar Gate, Derby, Derbyshire, DE1 1FL
We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), registration number ZC167464.
2. The information we collect
We only collect what we need to answer your enquiry, quote for work, carry out a job, or send you something you have asked for.
Information you give us
- When you request a quote: your name, phone number, email, postcode, property type, a description of the job, and any photos you choose to send.
- When you book a clean: the details above, plus the best number to send your before-and-after footage to (usually by WhatsApp).
- When you contact us by phone, email or our forms: whatever details you share in that message.
Information we collect automatically
- Website usage data: things like your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit and how you got here. We collect this through cookies and similar tools. See our Cookie Policy for detail.
We do not knowingly collect any special category data (such as health or ethnicity), and we do not ask for it.
3. Why we use your information, and our lawful basis
Under UK GDPR we must have a lawful basis for using your information. Ours are set out below.
| What we do | Why | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Reply to your enquiry and prepare a quote | To give you the information and price you asked for | Taking steps at your request before entering a contract; our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries |
| Carry out and manage a job you book | To deliver the service, send your before-and-after footage, and keep records | Performance of our contract with you |
| Send occasional gutter care reminders and offers | Only if you ask us to | Your consent (which you can withdraw at any time) |
| Keep our website working, secure and improved | To run the site and understand how it is used | Consent for non-essential cookies; legitimate interest in security |
| Meet our legal and tax obligations | To keep records the law requires | Legal obligation |
4. Marketing
We will only send you marketing messages, such as gutter care reminders, if you have asked us to. You can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any email, or by emailing us. Asking for a quote or booking a clean does not sign you up to marketing — that is a separate choice.
5. Who we share your information with
We never sell your data. We do not share it with anyone except the trusted suppliers who help us run the business, and only so they can do that job for us. These include:
- Our website host (20i) — stores the website and any data submitted through it.
- Our forms and email tools — used to receive your enquiry and send our replies.
- Messaging — we usually send your before-and-after footage by WhatsApp to the number you give us, as the video files are too large to email comfortably.
- Google (Analytics, Ads and Tag Manager) — helps us measure how the website performs. Data may be processed outside the UK; where that happens it is protected by approved safeguards such as the UK's International Data Transfer Agreement or Standard Contractual Clauses.
We may also share information if the law requires us to, or to protect our rights.
6. How long we keep your information
- Enquiries that don't lead to work: up to 24 months after your last contact, then deleted.
- Customer and job records: up to 6 years after the work, to meet tax and legal requirements.
- Marketing list: until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you.
- Website analytics: in line with our analytics provider's standard retention settings.
7. How we keep your information safe
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including secure hosting, encrypted connections (HTTPS) and limiting who can access it. No system is ever completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to guard against loss, misuse and unauthorised access.
8. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong;
- ask us to delete your information, where there is no good reason for us to keep it;
- ask us to restrict or stop using it;
- object to us using it, including for marketing;
- ask us to transfer it to another provider; and
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we relied on consent.
To exercise any of these, email us at info@derbyguttercleaning.co.uk. We will respond within one month. Using these rights is free.
9. Cookies
Our website uses cookies to function and to help us understand how it is used. You can control these through the cookie banner and your browser settings. Full detail is in our Cookie Policy.
10. Children
Our services and website are aimed at homeowners and businesses, not children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
11. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK regulator for data protection:
Information Commissioner's Office — ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint — Helpline: 0303 123 1113
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "last updated" date at the top. Please check back now and then.
